Fillers at Millennium Aesthetics
Most fillers on the market are made from Hyaluronic acid(HA). This is a naturally occurring molecule found in all skin and soft tissues throughout the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers are manufactured into a clear, sterile gel ready for injection into the skin. They usually contain a local anaesthetic agent to make injections more comfortable.
Hyaluronic acid fillers have grown tremendously in popularity as they are a great tool in the rejuvenation portfolio. In addition, if required, the results can be added to with more filler or toned down/deleted by use of a dissolver called Hyalase. This makes HA dermal filler a very versatile, pleasing and popular treatment amongst both patients and clinicians alike for its ease of use and great, buildable results.
How do fillers work?
When injected, the hyaluronic acid filler helps to attract water into the skin, helping to (re)volumise and hydrate the skin. It also helps to support the skin through its effect on collagen and elastin fibres, which are responsible for keeping our skin firm and supple.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be used to:
- correct or enhance facial contours, e.g. cheeks, temples, jaw, chin, nose-to-mouth lines, marionette lines, etc
- define, correct or enhance lips
- soften lines/wrinkles
- tighten and restore volume, e.g. face/hands/neck/decolletage
- improve the tone, texture as well as hydration of the skin
The most significant results are seen immediately but results will refine and improve even further over the next 2-4 weeks.
There is usually minimal downtime and results on average last from 6-18 months, depending on factors such as product used, treatment site, lifestyle factors and the individual. It is common for areas to show some swelling and/or bruising for a few days before the filler settles into its final position.
